Gene regulation and morphogenesis

Epigenomics in disease and aging

Summary

As the average age of our society gradually increases, aging and related diseases have become key topics in research. Historically, the study of these and other diseases has been principally focused on transcriptomics, but very little is known about putative problems at the epigenomic level that could underlie these situations.

We want to address this question by integrating different genomic data -from RNA-seq, to ATAC-seq and single-cell genomics- with functional experiments using our two animal model systems: zebrafish and turquoise killifish. Killifish form the vertebrate animal group with the shortest known lifespan, making it a perfect model for aging and derived diseases studies.
