published on 22/10/2024

The prestigious international organization Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) has awarded a grant of 1.2 million euros to the team in which CABD researcher María Almuedo Castillo participates, together with Alessandro Mongera from the University College of London in the United Kingdom and Mattia Serra from the University of California San Diego in the USA.

It is one of the 34 projects awarded in the 2024 call for proposals out of the 730 applications submitted.

Thanks to this funding, the team will be able to study the mechanical regulation and identification of the first boundaries established during embryonic development. This cutting-edge project will combine the multidisciplinary knowledge of the 3 laboratories, experts in morphogenesis, mathematical models, mechanobiology, gene regulation and acquisition of high-resolution 3D images, to discover new ways of regulating the establishment of morphogenetic patterns during the early stages of embryonic development.

Summary of the funded project

Likewise, in this 2024 call, the Human Frontier Science Program has awarded funding, in addition to the #CABD, also to the Instituto de Neurociencias in Alicante, the Instituto Mediterráneo de Estudios Avanzados, in the Balearic Islands and a consortium with the participation of the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología in Madrid.
