published on 03/02/2025

The EURESTOP Network annually brings together European industrial and academic scientists with different skills and experience in a multidisciplinary and concerted initiative. It combines disciplines such as chemistry, physics, bioinformatics, genetics, biology, immunology and medicine to understand the genetic and molecular basis of antimicrobial resistance, develop innovative diagnostic tools and deliver new compounds, antibody-based therapies and clinically repositioned drugs ready for personalized treatment of antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections.

CABD researchers and UPO professors Younes Smani, Fernando Govantes and Amando Flores have formed the scientific committee of the 3rd EURESTOP Network congress held at UPO on January 30-31, 2025. The organization has managed to bring together leading European and national experts, professionals and leaders, both from academia and industry, to share knowledge, ideas and experiences in this important field. Nearly 150 congress participants of 38 nationalities have participated. This event not only promotes interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers and academics, but also positions the Universidad Pablo de Olavide as a leading center in the generation and dissemination of knowledge.

This event has been supported by the UPO, the CABD, the Maria de Maeztu Unit of the CABD, as well as other entities such as Biomol, C Viral, Starsted.

The meeting started with welcoming remarks by Paco Oliva, the rector of the Pablo de Olavide University, Peter Askjaer, director of the CABD, together with the chair of EURESTOP (Mattia Mori)

This gathering of leading experts, professionals and leaders from diverse areas, our congress will serve as a platform for the exchange of innovative ideas, the presentation of quality research and the establishment of meaningful collaborations.
