Darío Lupiáñez receives the insignia of the city of Algeciras.

On March 17, Darío Lupiáñez, researcher at the Andalusian Center for Developmental Biology, has returned to his hometown, Algeciras, where the mayor, José Ignacio Landaluce, has delivered the insignia of the city, in a ceremony held in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall.
 
This tribute has been very emotional and has been present a representation of the local government team and the Municipal Corporation, in addition to the official chronicler of the city, Carlos Gomez de Avellaneda and family and friends of the honoree.

This tribute comes as a result of Dario in his successful career and outside Spain has always taught pride in their origins and that every time he allows it, he returns to his homeland to share with everyone else their knowledge, experiences and experiences.

Darío Lupiáñez was born in Algeciras in 1981 and it was the city of Algeciras where he began his studies, passing through the Santa Teresa and Los Pinos schools. He later studied Pharmacy in Granada, moving after his higher studies to Germany where he worked focused on molecular medicine and genetics. After his stay in Germany, he obtained the position of senior scientist at the CSIC (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas) and in 2023 he returned to Spain to work on his line of study in Seville, at the CABD.

Darío in his speech of gratitude emphasizes that 'Although (this award) is an individual recognition, it is also a recognition for all of us who believe in research as an engine of change for society'.
